In Loving memory of

Rae rome

September 1983-February 2024

We are heartbroken to announce the death of one of our co-founders, family members, dear friends, community members and therapists, Rae Rome.

Alluvial would never have come to be if it weren’t for Rae’s vision, creativity, passion for queer and trans community (therapists and clients alike) and their belief in our great capacity to heal and thrive as queer and trans people living in this world.

Rae lived many lives in their time here on this earth and they touched so many people. They were an amazing and caring therapist who loved their clients and worked hard for them to have mental health care that was radical and accessible. They were also a farmer, a gardener, a musician, an artist, a beloved relative, friend, partner, pet parent, uncle, community member. One loved by so many and one who loved so many and so fully. They are missed every day and we are heartbroken.

We know that Rae’s sudden death has shaken many in our community and the ripples of grief are very far reaching. We don’t want anyone to be alone in their grief for this amazing human. If you knew Rae personally or professionally, and are in need of support or would like information on ways that we are collectively celebrating and mourning this incredible human, please reach out to Carrie (carrie@alluvialcounseling.com) or Lara (lara@alluvialcounseling.com)

In honor of Rae today and every day, please take care of yourselves, laugh with your loves, cuddle your fur babies, take yourself to nature, reach out to loved ones who can hold your grief. Queer life is sacred. Queer grief is sacred. We are with you and sending you all love and care.

Donations can be made in Rae’s honor to the Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network Fund (https://gofund.me/a3ff641c) or the Black Farmer’s Collective (https://www.blackfarmerscollective.com/donate) or to Rae’s family as they navigate this loss (please reach out to us for info on how to do this).
